Application Requirements

As part of the application process, please ensure you complete in full the following requirements to be considered.

Please ensure the application form has been completed in full and submitted including any documents. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Personal Reflection Essay

  • Upload a 600-word personal statement and reflection (essay) of your experience with the JA Company Program
  • Document should be typed and double spaced, please take note of the word limit (essays that are largely over or under the word count will be disqualified).
  • Essay topic: How has your JA experience equipped you with entrepreneurial skills to set you up for success for your future educational and career pathways? Through a personal reflection, please share some examples of the skills you've learned in the program and how this will be helpful in your future career path.

2 Letters of Recommendation

  • The first letter must be from a JA contact that can speak on behalf of your growth and participation in the JA Company Program. It is highly recommended that this recommendation come from your JA volunteer/advisor of the program (for after-school) or your teacher (for in-school) as they should be able to speak to your experience in the program.
  • The second letter of recommendation can be from a teacher, community leader, JA volunteer or employer who can speak to your character (but doesn't necessarily need to speak to your specific participation in the program).
  • Letters of recommendation should be no more than one  page each and submitted as PDFs.

2 Photo Submissions (one required, one optional)

  • Please upload a photo of yourself and ensure you're the only one in this photo. Once a recipient is selected, the photo will be used on the JA Canada website and social media. Please note, should you be selected as the recipient, you will be provided with a media release. The photo will not be shared publicly until there is a signed photo release on file (and is not shared with judges).
  • Optional: Please also include a photo of your company's product(s) or service. This photo should not include any people. This photo will be shared with our judges to give them a visual about your company this year. This is helpful for our judges, but not a requirement (and not part of the scoring).

Our mission is to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy.
