Union Gas Supports JA SWO Company Program

September 20, 2016

CHATHAM, ON- Junior Achievement of South Western Ontario has received sponsorship and volunteer support from Union Gas to further the delivery of youth business education programs in Chatham-Kent. This support will provide sponsorship of one of the after-school Company Programs in Chatham-Kent to which they have been a sponsor of for the past 46 years.

“At Union Gas we believe that investing in the future of our youth is an investment worth making,” said Sean Collier, district manager Windsor/Chatham, Union Gas. “We’re proud to be partnering with Junior Achievement of South Western Ontario on its after-school program, which will help Chatham-Kent’s young people learn and grow."
Junior Achievement’s Company Program takes place after school and brings secondary school students together who are interested in learning how to run a business from start to finish. This 18 week program allows youth to understand how to start a business, engage a team and learn skills relative to the business world and post secondary education and allows them to work together as a team to succeed within their set goals.

This support will further strengthen the relationship between Union Gas and Junior Achievement, and will allow both organizations to work together to make an impact in the Chatham-Kent communities.  Volunteers from within the company help deliver this program and teach youth basic business and financial skills that they will carry with them for a successful future and help make a positive impact on the economy in all of our communities.
“Union Gas has been a long time supporter of our programs through volunteerism and program sponsorship. The values and experience of this company and its volunteers only strengthens the lessons we are teaching our youth about budgeting, saving, investing and running their own business. We are proud to have Union Gas as a partner in the delivery of our programs,” says Barb Smith, President of JA SWO.

Junior Achievement of South Western Ontario is extremely grateful to be receiving this extent of support from Union Gas, and looks forward to building an even stronger relationship in the future.

A cheque presentation took place at JA’s 20th Annual Golf Tournament on September 16th at St. Clair Parkway in Mooretown before golfers teed off.
