Stan MacPherson Appointed Chair of the JA Board of Governors

Junior Achievement of PEI is pleased to announce that Stan MacPherson, has been appointed to serve as the next Chair of the JA Board of Governors. Stan will assume the position from the Past-Chair, Doug Bridges, Marketing & Communications Officer with the Provincial Credit Union.

Stan MacPherson, FCPA, FCA is a native Islander, and a graduate of Prince of Wales College and Mt. Allison University.  After receiving his Chartered Professional Accountant designation in 1971, he served with a national accounting firm, taught at the University of Prince Edward Island School of Business and spent several years as an owner/manager in private industry.  In 1981, MacPherson launched what is now a 37-year professional career as a Partner with public accounting and financial advisory firms including his current partnership in MacPherson Roche Smith and its predecessor firms, including Deloitte & Touche, Touche Ross & Company and Ferris MacPherson.  Throughout his career, MacPherson concentrated his professional practice in the areas of financial consulting, business and strategic planning, mergers and acquisitions, and litigation support.

In addition to his business and professional endeavours, MacPherson has served in leadership roles as Chair of a number of community-based, charitable and economic development organizations including the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Foundation, Charlottetown Area Development Corporation, Holland College Board of Governors, Tourism Industry Association of PEI, as well as serving as a Director of the IWK Health Centre in Halifax, NS.  Currently, he is a Director and the immediate Past-President of Charlottetown Harbour Authority Inc., and also serves as a Director on the Boards of Holland College Foundation and CHANCES Family Centre.

MacPherson has been recognized on several occasions for his professional endeavours and his community services.  Most recently, he was named to the JA Prince Edward Island Business Hall of Fame in 2015 and in 2017 was conferred with a Doctor of Laws (Hon.) degree by the University of Prince Edward Island.
