Job Title: Area Coordinator, Prescott Russell and Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry

About Junior Achievement (JA) JA Peterborough Lakeland Muskoka (JA PLM) has been joining youth & businesses through volunteers, educators and specially designed programs in the classroom for over 9 years. JA is part of the world's largest not for profit organization partnering with educators, volunteers and donors to bring real world business experience into the classroom. Our programs develop financial, literacy, workforce readiness and entrepreneurial skills for grades 3 through 12.

JA PLM’s service area is large and extends to include Kingston and area, Renfrew County, Carleton Place, Stormont Dundas & Glengarry and Prescott Russell. Reporting to the District Manager, the Area Coordinator is a representative for JA in their designated territory, Prescott-Russell, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry.

Terms This is a part-time 10-15 hours a week position (up to 40 hours a month to start) offered as an independent Contract until June 30, 2018, with annual renewal based on performance. The wage is set at $15.00 an hour with pre-approved expenses available. The Area Coordinator will work from a home office and travel throughout their territory on their own schedule, but must be time-flexible to accommodate the changing needs of educators and volunteers.

The successful candidate must undergo a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search.

Position description: The Area Coordinator is responsible establishing a JA presence in the community as well as identify and pursuing potential local donors to support program delivery. The Area Coordinator is responsible for booking and coordinating a set number of JA programs per year. Key duties include: educator relations and program registration, volunteer recruitment, training and stewardship, data entry and reporting, and relationship development with a wide range of stakeholders.

Purpose of the position • Act as an ambassador for JA in the area by treating partners with the utmost respect and maintaining a high degree of professionalism. • Work with local businesses and school communities in your area to encourage educators, businesses and individuals to get involved with JA. • Book and ensure delivery of a specified number of JA programs per year. • Seek out funding and potential partners to sustain program delivery. • Recruit, screen, train, coordinate, engage and retain a large number of volunteers from the local business community to deliver programs. Key accountabilities: • Develops, in collaboration with the District Manager, and implements an operational plan to achieve a number of performance objectives (primarily program targets and sponsorships). • Plans and oversees program deliveries. • Provides leadership and direction to volunteers and teachers. • Reports program activities and results. • Markets JA programs to teachers to generate program registrations. • Recruits, screens and trains local volunteers to deliver JA programs. • Ensures programs have adequate volunteer coverage. • Builds community partnerships and strategic alliances. • Networks within the business community for the purpose of recruiting volunteers and building partner and donor relations. • Identifies and pursues potential local donors. • Maintains records of volunteers, teachers, donors, and programs delivered. • Gathers stories and photos of the positive impact of JA programs. Performance Measures: • Meets annual delivery goals including program and volunteer targets while staying within budget. • Meets annual sponsorship goals to cover the cost of program deliveries. • Creates a high degree of stakeholder satisfaction among educator, volunteers, students and donors. Required Skills and Experience: • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Strong networking and relationship building skills. • A high degree of professionalism and diplomacy. • Marketing, sales and customer service experience an asset. • Results oriented, delivers on time, on spec, and on budget. • Ability to motivate self and others to succeed, models desired behaviors. • Ability to work independently and without supervision. • Volunteer recruitment and management experience an asset. • Training or teaching experience/qualifications an asset. • Computer literate, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point), and social media such as Linked In, Facebook and Twitter. • Possession of a valid Ontario driver's license and access to a vehicle.

Desired Skills and Experience: • Knowledge of the non-profit sector and/or education sector. • Degree in education, business, commerce or related field. • Bilingual preferred.
