On May 22, Manitoba’s business leaders will celebrate as five local legends are inducted into the Manitoba Business Hall of Fame at our gala. Inductees include: Jim Burns, former CEO of Power Financial Corp. and Great West Life & Annuity Insurance Co.; John Buhler, founder of farm-equipment manufacturer Buhler Industries; Arthur Mauro, former president and CEO of Investors Group; Lawrie Pollard, chairmen of Pollard Banknote; and the late Robert Chipman, founder and past Chairman of Megill-Stephenson Company and National Leasing.
“Robert Chipman was an inspiring business leader,” says Tom Pundyk, President, National Leasing who is looking forward to attending the gala with other members of the National Leasing and Canadian Western Bank team. “I was lucky enough to come to work with him right out of University in the mid-70’s and he pushed our team to make National Leasing what it is today – an equipment financing company processing over $1 Billion in equipment leases for over 50,000 customers across Canada. It is our honor, along with our parent company, Canadian Western Bank, to partner with Junior Achievement in recognizing his legacy.”
Robert Chipman still touches every employee at National Leasing today. His daily precepts hang at the staff entrance into the building. Wise words to live by for the budding students mentored in Junior Achievement programs.
