Macoun and Sifton inducted into Junior Achievement’s
London and District Business Hall of Fame at 29th annual gala
LONDON (ON) – Two leading businessmen were inducted into the JA London and District Business Hall of Fame at the 29th annual gala and fund-raising event here last night, hosted by Junior Achievement South Western Ontario (JA SWO).
Businessmen Jeff Macoun, president and COO Canada of Canada Life and Richard Sifton, president and CEO of Sifton Properties Limited, were honoured for their business acumen and community leadership.
“The Hall of Fame laureates demonstrate outstanding contributions to business, entrepreneurship and philanthropy,” said JA SWO president and CEO Bev Robinson. “They are an inspiration to our community and the young people in our JA programs.”
Macoun was appointed president and COO in October 2018 at Canada Life (Great West Lifeco Inc., Great-West Life Assurance Company, London Life Insurance Company and Canada Life Assurance Company). He has been associated with the company for more than 30 years, taking on a wide variety of roles with increasing responsibility.
Sifton is a third generation member of his family business, employed with Sifton Properties for 30 years, the last 15 as president and CEO.
Portraits of the two laureates will be added to the gallery at the Hall of Fame, located at London’s Main Library, second floor, Galleria, downtown.
JA student Sarah Hauffe was presented with the JA Brayl Copp Distinguished Business Leadership award at the gala, which attracted over 800 people.
JA SWO offers a variety of free financial literacy, work readiness and entrepreneurship programs to elementary and secondary school students in south western Ontario, including: London, the counties of Middlesex, Elgin, Oxford, Grey, Bruce, Huron and Perth, and Chatham-Kent, Sarnia-Lambton and Windsor-Essex: over 14,000 students participated in JA SWO programs by JA-trained volunteers from the business community this past school year.
