London Lightning players join Junior Achievement’s Axe Business Warrior fundraiser as celebrity throwers
LONDON, ON – The London Lightning basketball players will add their athletic savvy as Celebrity Players in the 3rd annual Junior Achievement (JA) Axe Business Warriors event this Thursday.
Two teams of six London Lightning players will take aim at the bullseye target when they play on Thursday, February 28 at BatL London while some 30 other teams, made up from local businesses, and will compete for top placed trophies - for fun, bragging rights and to support JA of London and District.
“We are thrilled the London Lightning are joining us,” said JA president and CEO Bev Robinson. “Having them at the event as celebrity players really adds to the fun of the night.”
“We are happy to be contributing to the success of this event,” said Vito Frijia, President of Southside Group and owner of the London Lightning Basketball team. “JA delivers financial programs to the youth in our community, and all proceeds from the Axe event goes directly to JA programs.”
The competition involves teams of six players trying to hit a bullseye with an axe in specially designed throwing lanes. Results of each team’s accuracy are tallied to determine the winner in each round.
JA is a not-for-profit organization that delivers financial literacy programs to students from Grade 4 to secondary school.
