JA PEI Announces Volunteer of the Year 2016-2017-Lynda Warkentin

November 01, 2017 Prince Edward Island

JA Prince Edward Island would like to extend a huge thank you to all of the companies, organizations and individuals who were generous enough to contribute their valuable time, expertise and enthusiasm to the Island students that participated in JA programs in 2016/2017.  Without their help we would not have been able to deliver 240 programs to over 5,493 students across PEI.  Thanks to the dedication of our many energetic volunteers, JA Prince Edward Island has been able to successfully deliver our curriculum based programs, focused on financial literacy, work readiness and entrepreneurship to more students every year.

Lynda Warkentin

Each year JA PEI recognizes the efforts put forth by our volunteers by selecting the volunteer that has gone above and beyond to make a significant contribution to our organization and the future of young people. For the 2016/2017 school year we are thrilled to announce that the recipient is Lynda Warkentin.

Lynda was raised in Souris, Prince Edward Island, along with her 8 brothers and 3 sisters.  She moved from Souris to Charlottetown where she attended the University of Prince Edward Island.  Lynda graduated in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree with a Major in Economics. She now lives in New Haven, PEI with her husband, Peter and son, Decklyn.  In September 2017, Lynda is proud to be welcoming a new baby girl into their family.  Lynda loves to spend time with her family and they spend a great deal of their time outdoors kayaking, fishing and camping with friends.

Lynda has been working with Invesco since October 2008.  She started with the company as a Client Services Representative on the US side.  After working diligently on her personal development, she was promoted to a Dealer Services Representative in December 2013.  She loves working with Invesco as they have provided her with ample opportunities for personal growth and development over the years, including the opportunity to volunteer with JA PEI.  Invesco encourages community involvement from their associates and they have been actively involved with our organization since 2009/10.  Lynda was one of the first Invesco associates to volunteer with our organization and has continued to be an active volunteer ever since.  With her passion and enthusiasm for our programs, she has helped to inspire other associates to volunteer making Invesco one of our largest contributors of volunteers.

Congratulations Lynda! Your dedication and enthusiasm is sincerely appreciated by JA PEI and our Island Youth!

Our mission is to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy.
